Versa’s Story

While studying at the Royal College of Music in London, this group formed by chance and made their debut at the RCM Chamber Music Festival in 2021. Formerly known as the Aeonia Quartet, they then performed at St Mary the Boltons Church, St Mary Abbotts, and with the RCM Wind Ensemble. Later, the group re-formed with a shared vision of versatility and dynamism, blending influences from classical, jazz, and musical theatre while showcasing their skills on various instruments.

Each member is trained in jazz and classical disciplines, as well on saxophone, clarinet and flute, culminating in a shared expertise across a wide range of musical styles.

In 2024, the quartet became recipients of the RCM Accelerate Award, supporting them in the re-launching and re-branding of their multi-instrumental, cross genre chamber group, Versa Winds. Since then, they have given performances in iconic venues in and around London including at the Elgar Room in the Royal Albert Hall, King’s Place London, St James’ Piccadilly, the Bloomsbury Festival, Kew Gardens, and for Wimbledon International Music Festival. This year, they performed at Deal Music and Arts Festival, Lincoln’s Inn Chapel, Christchurch Waltham Cross, and as Waverly Young Artists at the Ryedale Festival.

Versa Winds are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of musicians. In June 2025, Versa launched their workshop series, collaborating with schools to engage young people with learning an instrument, and have collaborated with schools and music services in and around London, Dawkes Woodwind Specialists to engage young people and spark a lifelong love of music.

Recitals & Concerts

Passionate about showcasing the multitude of genres available to the saxophone, Versa Winds enjoy performing across London and further afield. They perform both as a saxophone quartet, and as a multi-instrumental quartet, and it’s this flexibility that draws in such diverse audiences.

Versa has curated several programmes including their ‘New World’ programme which features multi-instrumental arrangements of Bernstein’s West Side Story and Gershwin’s An American In Paris. They equally enjoy performing original works for saxophone quartet, such as the Rodney-Bennett Quartet and the Desenclos Quartet.

Events & Background Music

Available for hire for background music at weddings, functions, and other events, Versa Winds pride themselves on catering to all tastes. Proficient in a wide range of styles, they have a varied set-list available, from light classical music, to jazz in the background, to musical theatre favourites.

Versa Winds are proud to be represented by the RCM Professional Engagements Service.

Education & Outreach

Versa Winds are committed ambassadors for inspiring the next generation of musicians. They believe their versatility and expertise in multiple genres speaks to children and young people to spark a love of music.

Versa is excited to launch their workshop series, collaborating with schools to engage young people with learning an instrument.

"Versa Winds are a group of talented and enthusiastic multi-instrumentalists who came to ACS Hillingdon to provide an interactive and informative performance. Their fun, friendly approach to introducing the woodwind family and the wide variety of music that it can play was engaging and exciting for our students. They played everything from Jazz to contemporary Western Art music and the informal environment allowed students the freedom to be inquisitive and delve deeper into the instruments, music and the life of a professional musician." ~ ACS Hillingdon International School, June 2025
